What a stunning evening we had for Rob & Alanna’s engagement/maternity session.  With their wedding just around the corner we headed out for their engagement photos to a beautiful conservation area here in Hamilton.  I originally met them a few years back at a friend of theirs wedding and they kept me in the back of their mind for the day that they got engaged.  Thankfully I was able to say that I was available and they are a wonderful couple!  Loving what we had done for their friends wedding and engagement photos, they asked for a few locations and we came up with this.  I couldn’t have asked for better energy from a couple and you guys were a real pleasure to photograph.  Can’t wait to photograph your wedding guys, love ya!

One thing that I can say about Paul & Maria is that they truly let their happiness shine through!  I had a permanent smile throughout their entire wedding day – and when it came to editing their photos, it was there again.  I feel tremendously blessed to have photographed your wedding Paul & Maria, you two are one of a kind!

Their wedding day embodied simple elegance, with hints of tradition, culture, and nature, all surrounded by love. The day began with the bridal party getting ready in the Prime Minister’s Suite of the Sheraton Hotel, while the men groomed up at the best man’s house. The Royal Botanical Gardens with the beauty of the rose garden set the stage for what would be a perfect day. The ceremony was lovely and personal, with perfect harmonies throughout. The reception was at the gorgeous Liuna Station in the Grand Ballroom, where family and friends came to congratulate the bride and groom. Paul & Maria made their grand entrance to a classic fav “Buddy Holly – Weezer” and had their first dance, foxtrotting to their song, “Only You – The Platters”.  The dinner was delicious, the bar was busy, and the speeches were heartfelt.

The Ancaster Old Mill is one of Hamilton’s best wedding locations for a few very good reasons.  First let me say that this is one of the very few locations that has a beautiful outdoor ceremony location onsite.  I think having a venue that can host both the reception & ceremony is one of the aspects that many brides and grooms are looking for when looking for wedding venues.  That way the guests aren’t travelling to multiple places and potentially guests from out of town getting lost along the way.

The Old Mill has a beautiful waterfall just outside the restaurant for bridal portraits and family photos.

The main floor reception is cosy, warm and set up beautifully.  They also have 4 other rooms that can accommodate guest lists as small as 35 but all the way up to 205 people.

The outside gardens are groomed perfectly and the greenery is a wonderful backdrop for family portraits and wedding photos

There are a few onsite bridal suites that are clean and modern.  I’d highly recommend booking one, they make for stunning photographs while you are getting ready.  There is a larger bridal suite for bigger wedding parties and a smaller one if it fits your style.

As previously mentioned, the outdoor ceremony location is one of the best parts of the Ancaster Old Mill.  Outdoor weddings surrounded by lush greenery looks amazing in photos.

The water at the mill travels from the waterfall, past the restaurant and right beside the ceremony site.

They even have an indoor and outdoor covered bridge for some stunning bridal portraits

If the photos weren’t enough to sell you on the Old Mill, take my word for the fact that there are very few venues that will say that have phenomenal food & service.  The Ancaster Mill is one of only a handful of places that I would highly recommend if the quality of the food being served is important to you.  Their menus offer impeccable seasonal local ingredients from nearby farms and food artisans.

A great addition to your wedding is a photo booth rental.  It keeps your guests busy and entertained throughout the night.  Not only that, they immediately get a print out to take home to remember the night.  Shenanigans will happen at a wedding and guests have no problems letting loose in our photo booth.  Best part is, you receive a USB of all of the images so you can make fun of them later on social media 🙂

Tom & Katie’s stunning Royal Botanical Gardens wedding was such a pleasure to be apart of.  We first met up with Tom & his groomsmen to photograph a few getting ready shots with them and Tom’s son.  We then headed over to the Sheridan Hotel in Hamilton to visit Katie in the bridal suite.  I absolutely love the bridal suite at the Sheridan – it’s modern, full of natural light and big enough for even a large wedding party to get ready in.  Tom and Katie’s ceremony was under the rose garden tent.  After they were pronounced man & wife we had the opportunity to photograph around the grounds.  The RBG hosts hundreds of weddings each year and for good reason, it’s absolutely everything a bridal couple could ever want.   I’m so thankful to have photographed your wedding Tom & Katie, I can’t wait to photograph your next milestone!
