Why I’d Recommend Using Pinterest When Planning Your Wedding

Wedding planning has turned a page in this digital age. We use to cut pages out of wedding magazines and put them into a “want it” folder and now that we are online more then ever the game has changed. I was on Facebook the other day when I saw that one of my upcoming brides had pinned an image. Interested in what she was planning and wanted an inside look I clicked the link and everything was right there.

Pinterest is awesome because it’s super easy to use and share with friends on other social networks. I love that you don’t need to download images, find where you saved them and then re-upload to your Facebook account.

Here’s how to pin – When you’re on a website that has a photo that you’d like to pin, click pin it button in your toolbar and from there you’ll have a series of images from the page to choose from. Choose the photo that you want, choose the folder that you want to pin it to(eg. Wedding Ideas), describe the image if you’d like so others know why you like it – Then just click pin it! Presto, that’s it.

Here’s a link if you need a visual on how to pin. Please let me know in the comments if this link is ever dead.

Size Does Matter – Framing & Canvases For Your Home
I'm asked all the time at ordering sessions "what size canvas should I order for my home?" It will always depend on where you plan on displaying it and what is around it. A single 8x10" print above a 6 foot couch or a fireplace will look small in comparison and will look out of place. Read this article before coming in for your unveiling/ordering session. Size Does Matter – What size canvas should I order for my home?

I’m asked all the time at ordering sessions “what size canvas should I order for my home?” It will always depend on where you plan on displaying it and what is around it. A single 8×10″ print above a 6 foot couch or a fireplace will look small in comparison or out of place. The trick is to cover more then 1/2 the width of what’s below the canvas. So for a 6′ couch, I’d recommend a 24″ tall x 36″ wide canvas at minimum. You could also group photos together into a montage to create the same effect.

If you are planning on putting several images across a wall and they will not be in a cluster, consider having an uneven number of prints (3,5,7 etc) Having an uneven number is psychologically more appealing. Also place the center of the image at eye level when standing.

Tip: Keep your prints and canvases out of direct sunlight, away from floor heaters and out of the attic to keep them looking their best. Canvases & framed prints exposed to sunlight and humid air will fade due to chemical reactions.
